Project Pile: Bags

Yesterday I kinda went overboard at the fabric store (like I always tend to do) But I found a fabric store here in Dallas that has some crazy good deals and this time I actually have a plan for every piece of fabric I got. I made a couple bags lastnight and I'm in the process of making a rug right now.

Bag 1
I really liked the fabric I found for the outside of this bag. It feels exactly like jegging material. The inside is some vintage fabric that my mom had in her fabric stash for years that I LOVE. And the flower is a removable pin.

Bag 2

This bag was super easy to make. For the flower all you need to do is fold a strip of material in half, sew it along the bottom edge with a really long stitch and pull the thread to gather it. There's a ton of cute things you could make with it!

I'm glad I actually have fabric now so I can get started on all these projects that I need to get done!!

I was finally able to make it to to fabric store today and I got a huge pile of fabric to start making everything I need to. I already finished 2 bags, which I will have pics of tomorrow (hopefully!) But I have got to get some shut eye or I might just die...

Filming & Dyeing

Sorry for the lack of posting over here. I've been pretty busy these past few days.
I got a job at Whole Foods :) So I've been working quite a bit. I've also been making some presents. It sucks that I can't post everything I've been making because everyone would know what their gifts are. Maybe after Christmas... Today has involved a lot of dyeing stuff (hence the purple hand).
I suppose I should get some gloves next time...

This past week, we also filmed Chase's music video. It was a ton of fun. I think it will turn out great!!
You can keep updated HERE and he should be having his new single out soon (the one we filmed the video for).
Hope you all have a great week!

P.S. I will try to post more this week then I have been!

Even You Can Make Hot Wings!

I've been trying to make hot wings the past year or so. I have been changing my recapie here and there and I finally figured out the best and easiest way of making them! The thing I love the most is that it really is SO easy. I don't have an exact recapie since I kinda just made it up on my own, but here it is:

About 8 chicken wings
1 stick of melted butter
6 oz hot sauce
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spiciness)
1/2 cup light Italian dressing

In a Tupperware (or and type of marinating dish) mix together all the ingredients to make the marinate. Cut the wings and discard tips. Put chicken in the marinate and refrigerate at least over night. Longer is better (I did 24 hrs).

Bake at 300 for 40 minutes (flipping them half way through) and turn it up to 450 for 10 or so minutes. Just use your own judgment. As long as the middle is cooked and the outside is crispy then you're good to go!

Cracker Cravings

Me and my friend Lori have been wanting to have a little picnic on the gondola (boat) and were talking about different cracker toppings. It made me start looking for odd cracker ideas (other then just crackers and cheese) I found a few that sound so amazing. I must try some of these!!
cucumber, smoked salmon, sour cream

 Mozzarella, basil, tomatoes

tuna. red peppers, Italian dressing

Peanut Butter, Bananas, Chocolate Syrup

 Grilled chicken, Parmesan cheese, lettuce

Black beans, avocados, salsa

Horseradish, blue cheese, roast beef

I found all of these at:

The first one looks like it would be my favorite. I think it would also be yummy to do one with artichoke hearts, spinach, and monterey jack! And we really want to try one with goat cheese and blueberries!

YUM.

At The Fair

I didn't get many photos at The Texas State Fair, but here's a few that I was able to capture.
The Texas Star. It's the tallest Ferris wheel in the Western Hemisphere.
There was a lot to do there. They had dogs doing crazy tricks, a shanghai circus, more rides then I've eve seen, shopping, theater shows, concerts, and TONS of deep fried food, everywhere you turned... I mean, we even saw a booth that said "Deep Fried Turkey Skin" Bleh. All in all it was a ton of fun!

Handmade With Love

Maybe it's a little early to start thinking of Christmas, but Chase and I have decided to do all homemade Christmas presents this year. I talked to my family and we are ALL needing to do some major money saving so we agreed to all exchange homemade presents this year and who knows maybe this could become a tradition... I couldn't be more excited, especially because my parents and siblings are all so stinkin' creative.
Homemade things are so much more personal and mean so much more to me.
Like my friend Kasandra told me today "I think it's showing who you are and what that person means to you through something you love to do! It means more to have something your friend created then to have something somebody else created."

It's going to be a good (and cheap) Christmas!

I have about 20 people on my gift list, which means I am going to have to start now if I'm going to get all these gifts done by December 25th. Now I just need to figure out what to make for each of the 20 different people... This might take some time.

Want List: Books

Just a few books that sound amazing that I really want to check out.

The Bust DIY guide to life
I found his lovely book in Barns & Nobel when I was bored out of my mind for 2 hours waiting for my husband to pre-sell some ticket for a show he's doing. I read this book almost the whole time and there was still so much I didn't even get to touch. This is definitely on my want list. So many useful tips!

Lullaby
The next book on my Palahniuk list...

Design Sponge At Home
I can read the Design Sponge blog for hours. I can only imagine how great this book is!

Home Made
I've read some great reviews on this cook book. Everything looks so amazing!

Penguin Classics Books
Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Withering Heights, Persuasion, Jane Eyre, Little Women, Dracula, Alice In Wonderland, The Picture of Dorian Gray... So many amazing books!
Even though I can probably get all those books for half the price, they are so adorable it makes me want to spend the extra amount just for the cuteness!

Question... Has anyone heard of any good tea cookbook-type books. Particularly one with some bubble tea recipes? I'm in a huge need of one, but can't find a good one anywhere! HELP!
