Thrifting Before & After

The other day me and Lori went thriving. You know those times where you don't find anything good and it was a total fail? This definitely was NOT one of those days! We both found so much stuff and we had to force ourselves to stop and go home so we wouldn't make our husbands even more mad then they already would be :p We found lots of clothes, dishes, and even Christmas presents.

I got a shirt and a skirt that were dirt cheap and I kinda liked how they looked, but knew I had to alter and change them somehow.
I loved the horse fabric, but the rest of it looked just a little too weird

I really liked the style of the front of the shirt, but it was super baggy, the sleeves were to short and it fit me really awkward.

The shirt doesn't look super different. I only made it smaller and made the sleeves short, but I like how it turned out!
All I did to the skirt was make it shorter to get rid of the plaid part and put different buttons on it. So simple! And now I have a new favorite skirt!
(Please, please excuse the terrible pictures. I literally had 2 minutes to take all of them... )

Tickets and Rambling

Tonight I bought our plain tickets to go back home! I hate flying. With a burning passion. But I'm excited to see my family and friends and sad to leave my job right when I was getting the hang of it :( I'll be home 2 weeks from tomorrow so I'm going to really try to enjoy my time here that I have left. Even if most of it will be working, especially this week. Goodbye Thanksgiving, hello 50 hour work week. I don't think we're going to be able to do much for Thanksgiving, but everyone who IS having a Thanksgiving.... Have a wonderful week!!

Here's a lil' playlist from some great bands.

A Day In The Life (In Pictures)

I had a day off today and I figured it would be a good day to do this because I didn't have anything planned for the day. Just as a warning... I work late so we've gotten in the habit of sleeping in big time...

11:00 Drawing on the ceiling of our bunk.
(Chase's sketch...)

12:00 Eating brunch

1:00 Working on presents

2:00 Taking a little drive ...by myself... on Shady Trail...

3:00 Driving the beast to the post office and fabric store

4:00 Editing pictures of my purdy sister

5:00 Afternoon tea

6:00 My loot from the fabric store

7:00-8:00 Sewing and Chick-fil-a (too bad I didn't get a pic of 3 of us "adults" playing in the play place)

9:00 Chase programing lights for this weekends show

10:00 Quality computer time

DIY Round Up

I feel like I always say it's, but it has been WAY too long. I feel like all of my inspiration and extra time has been going in to my future (in my dreams) shop that I don't have much left for my poor blog. I've been dreaming so much about my shop that it's almost all I ever want to talk about. I need to find a balance SOON! Anyhow, that's where I've been lately, if you're wondering why my blogging has been so random. But I am making a promise to myself right now to not neglect my blog!

Here's few great tutorials for you to try out. I want to do every single one of them!

 Felt Broach

Paint Dipped Pine Cones

Painted Toys

Heart Garland

Printed Nails

All of these seem amazingly easy, yet so cute!

Yo-Yo DIY

This is the most simple diy ever!
Anyone can make these (as long as they are old enough to use a needle). I've been making them since I was probably about 8 years old. I don't know if they're technically called yo-yo's, but that's what I've always called them.

There are so many endless things you can do with them!

Step 1:
Make a pattern or get something round that you can trace around. You can make the circle any size you want, but remember the yo-yo will end up about half the size as the original circle. Use your pattern to draw a circle directly on the fabric and cut it out.

Step 2:

Take a needle and thread and fold the fabric towards the center as you sew around the edge. The picture is pretty self explanatory.

Step 3:
Pull the tread as tight as you can until it all gathers together.

Step 4:
after it's all gathered, push the needle through the center of the yo-yo so that it comes out the back. This will help hold it flat. Tie it off and you have yourself an nice, cute, super easy yo-yo!

Things This Week

This week consisted of...

-Getting a package from my sister <3
She sent me home made pumpkin chocolate chip bread, homemade nutella soap, home made tea, and honey from my home land.

-Quality baking time.
I'm so lucky I get to do bake for a living!

 -Seeing silly tourist stuff

-Long phone conversations with friends and family back home

They usually last at least an hour. It's kinda sad... I can't imagine how people could move away back in the day before phones.

-Making Plans
Chase has been helping me make a plan for my future business. I just need to wrap my head around what all this is really going to consist of.

-A few walks
One of which consisted of falling in to a pond... err... But the weather has been so perfect here for afternoon walks!
