Sickley...

Meet my new best friends the past couple of days...

Tazo refresh tea has saved my life today! It's my favorite tea, but now I love it even that much more.

On the bright side... because I've just been sitting at home all day, I'm finaly learning how to crochet!!! I'm so excited :) Everything I've made looks like a 2 year old made it, but I'm getting there. Hopefully I will keep it up after I get over this cold (which I hope will be very, very soon).

Oh and by the way being sick and living in the same house with a new born baby...not a good mixture! I'm so scared to even hold him...we've all been hand sanitizing like crazy.

Off for more tea and then straight to bed with me.

3. This hand painted ceramic tile. I love the style of this!

4. This ceramic pendant

5. This fabric would be adorable for a little girl!

6. I don't know where they found this mug but I must have it!

7.  This plastic children's plate. I remember eating off of cool plates like this when i was a kid.

8. This original oil painting

9. These amazing salt and pepper shakers. Salty and Peppy? How cute is that!

10. And of coarse my all time favorite children's book.

Had an awesome time at one of Chases shows the other night! Sadly chase twisted his foot really bad on the first song... but hes such a trooper that he played the rest of the set perfectly normal and nobody even noticed anything was wrong with it! Crazy guy! But there was a good turn out and they did awesome! They'll probably post some videos on there website HERE.

Chases foot after the show. We thought he broke it cause after this pic it turned super purple! He wouldn't go to the doctor, but he seems to be fine now, after limping for a few days. Silly, silly Chase...

Fun times!

Sewing class projects

Just wanted to post a couple of the Home Ec projects that I've finished.
First is the reversible bib I made for my sisters upcoming baby, which will be coming any time! Her due date was yesterday, so we're all getting very impatient.

And this ironing board cover...which I was in a huge need for anyway. I found this material and fell in love with it! ...but I bought way too much of it... along with a ton more fabric that I didn't need. Fabric stores are so dangerous!

That's all the projects I've finished so far. Hopefully I can get a lot more done this week since I don't have much work hours for a few days.

Rainy days are happy days :)

Rainy days are good for so many reasons!
These past few weeks we've been getting so much rain for Grand Junction. It makes me feel so cozy and happy! Monday we broke the record for rainfall. It rained so hard that I had to pull over for 15 minutes on my way home from work. Perfect blogging weather...except that our internet is out... So I guess this week will be coffee shop week if I want to do anything on the internet. Which is fine by me :)

Home Ec

I just signed up for this new class. I am so excited for all the fun projects! including the ironing board cover (for my recent yard sale find) and the padded laptop case. The teachers seem like they really know what they are doing. Their blogs are here... Rachel, Leigh-Ann, and Courtney.  I'm pretty familiar with all the beginner stuff, but there's still so much that I need to learn. This will be fun! I'm going to get started right now. If anything turns out decent I'll post some pics, but we'll see... :)

Wouldn't life be perfect if sweatpants were sexy, Monday mornings were fun, junk food didn't make you fat, girls didn't cause drama, guys weren't so confusing, nothing was regrettable, and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow? Eventually everything will fall into place, but until then, ...laugh at the confusion, live for the moment, and know that everything happens for a reason.

Ruffle Skirt Tutorial

This is my altered skirt that i made for my sisters wedding. My mom originaly bought it for me a couple years ago. I love the fabric, but didn't really like the style or how heavy and hot it was to wear. It was super easy. Below are some step by step pics of the process. Feel free to ask me questions if i forget to explain something.
This is a before pic. See it still even has the tag on! But don't you love the material?
First I cut it in to 5 pieces. this might be different for you depending on how you want your skirt to turn out. I left the underskirt longer (to the length i wanted the final skirt to be) and used it to sew the layers on. i took the smallest layer that i cut and just did a basting stitch on the top edge and gathered it, and then sewed it about 6 inches under the top layer of the skirt. Sorry i didn't take pictures of that step. I repeated the same thing with the next two layers. I had to cut off quite a bit of fabric on the last two layers cause there was way to much fabric (with-wise).
What it looks under the layers. The space between the layers were about 6 inches and the pieces of fabric were about 7 1/2 inches. You may want to alter the measurements depending on how you want your skirt to look.TIP: This particular material i didn't have to seam up the edges so if your fabric is a fabric that will unravel be sure to measure it a little extra for the seams.
Another pic of the finished project. Sorry if there wasn't much detail in this tutorial, it's my first one ever! Tell me if you have any questions or if there's anything that would make it easier to follow.Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Busy Busy Busy...

It feels like so long since i posted anything last...oh yeah that's probably because it has been! I've been so busy this last month, but hopefully after i get this blog rolling then I'll be motivated to post more often. I've been SO busy trying to get all the sewing projects done for all these baby's that are coming. My sister Liz is due in 10 days...WOW 10 days already! My friend Jessica is due in a little over 2 weeks and my brother wife LaRae is due in a little over a month. This will be fun. I have never really been around baby's much so this will be a new adventure! We had a double baby shower on Saturday for Liz and LaRae. It was so cute! I'll post some pics of it later. Unfortunately that day was a bit of an emotional roller coaster. One of my best friends passed away last week and her funeral was right before the shower. It was really hard to switch hats between the two, but I felt much more at peace after the funeral then I had felt all week.
I love you Bekah and I will see you again!
